Alistair started his apprenticeship journey in March 2019, working with the Council's Communications team and Customer Services team. Alistair has taken the opportunity to gain his apprenticeship qualification alongside his varied day-to-day work. Let's hear how he is BLAZE-ing his trail as an apprentice:
Having joined Harborough District Council after leaving university I have taken part in workshops on area's like safeguarding and equality as well as completing an ICT qualification. All of this has benefited me in my job role and allowed to become more confident.
My apprenticeship has allowed me to gain many skills and given me a great insight into how local authority works. This is great for my continued learning and will help towards my apprenticeship qualification.
After I have finished my apprenticeship, I hope to get a permanent full-time role with Harborough District Council to allow me to keep growing as well as applying the knowledge I've learnt from my apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship I'm doing here at Harborough District Council means I gain a qualification while also learning skills that will help me throughout my career. The work I am doing within my apprenticeship also ties into my degree allowing me to apply the knowledge I learnt at university into my job role.
Through my apprenticeship I have gained valuable skills and confidence that will help me throughout my career. When working with my teams this gives me a broader insight into what we do across the Council, what other teams do and how we can improve as a whole.
