Meet the police chief and chair
Published Friday 13th January 2012
People are invited to a meeting with the Chair of the Police Authority and the Chief Constable of Leicestershire Constabulary, as the two organisations enter a challenging period.
Simon Cole, Chief Constable, and Barrie Roper, Chair of the Police Authority, will be at the Harborough District Council Offices chamber, Market Harborough, on Wednesday, 25 January, 2012.
The event will be hosted by the BBC’s Ben Jackson, and starts at 6pm (with light refreshments from 5.30pm). It will finish by 8.00pm.
In February 2012 the police budget for 2012-13 will be set and these meetings will enable us to explain the options being considered.
The meeting, one of four across the county, will explain more about the financial challenges to be faced in 2012-13 and allow people to put forward their views on local policing priorities and the use of resources.
Short explanatory presentations will be followed by a question and answer session.
More information will also be given on the forthcoming elections for the Police and Crime Commissioner, who will replace the Police Authority in November next year.
Despite the challenges ahead both the Police Authority and the Constabulary remain focused on further improvement of the policing services provided for the people and businesses of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland .
