Join influential panel and help shape community
Published Friday 23rd September 2011
Local residents are being given a unique opportunity to work directly with the council to help shape and influence what happens in their community.
Harborough District Council is inviting people to join its popular Citizen's Panel, which works with the council on proposals for the future, and where it needs to focus its priorities.
The Citizen's Panel is a group of residents, of all ages, who have agreed to complete two or three surveys per year - usually questionnaires either through the post or online.
In addition, they may be asked to take part in other events or discussions on areas of special interest to them, for example, local sports provision or anti-social behaviour in their area.
Cllr Blake Pain, who has responsibility for community engagement at the council, said: "To improve council services and focus on the needs of communities, it is crucial we know and consider the views and opinions of residents. Having this close contact with local people through the Citizen's Panel is hugely beneficial and gives people a chance to have a hand in the way communities and council services develop."
